FAQ
PuriFi Air Purification Systems
How is PuriFi tested?
PuriFi Labs validates product efficacy by replicating real-world test environments under real-world HVAC mechanical conditions to ensure products are installed and tested the same way they will be used.
How does the PuriFi Smart Hub work?
When a change in your indoor air quality is detected, the PuriFi Sensor notifies the PuriFi Smart Hub, and the patented PuriFi Generator is signaled to respond—all in real-time.
The PuriFi App gives you a choice of how you want to operate your system: Clean, Cleaner or Cleanest. 90% of homes and buildings have the best results with the Clean setting. However, during seasonal events, particulates may rise and the Cleaner or Cleanest setting should be utilized for best results.
How does the PuriFi PM Sensor work?
The PuriFi PM Sensor continuously monitors the air quality in your indoor environment, providing real-time feedback to the Smart Hub or your own smart device. The sensor measures particulates (down to 0.3 micron), temperature and humidity. Simply plug-in the sensor and place it in the area you see the most activity.
Do PuriFi ions eliminate SARS-CoV-2 virus?
Yes, these high-energy ions agglomerate onto the virus cells to completely neutralize the virus particles they find. 99.994% neutralization of all known viruses within 60 minutes based on independent lab reports.
What are the maintenance requirements?
To guarantee performance, the generator needs to be replaced every two years at a cost of $250. Other than that, it is completely maintenance free.
Does it Reduce Odors?
Yes. The ions created by the PuriFi products seek out to destroy airborne particulates which eliminates odors.
Does the PuriFi System release ozone into my home or building?
The PuriFi Generator removes unwanted ozone by means of the proprietary PuriFi 02 Catalyst, converting ozone to oxygen. The Catalyst captures ozone molecules while allowing the ions to pass through. This gives you the powerful effect of air purification without the negative side effect of ozone. The system has been tested and proven safe by Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
Is this technology similar to UV?
No. UV can protect your coils and HVAC system but lacks efficacy in high-speed airflow in the duct due to the lack of reaction time to effectively eliminate contaminants. With our Airborne Molecular Purification (AMP) technology and through your HVAC system’s airflow, you blanket every room with natural, long-life, high-energy, molecular ions attacking the contaminants at the source. Every vent in your home or business becomes its own air purification system.
How much energy does the system use?
The system uses the highest amount of energy to create strong ion-clusters to remove contaminants and pathogens from every corner of your home but consumes less electricity than a 20w light bulb.
GPS Air Purification Systems
How long do the ions last in the air?
Typically, small ions have a life expectancy of up to 60 seconds before they touch a surface or particle to discharge.
How do I know the product is working?
Check the indicator lights on the FC48 Power Supply (not module), call the installer or purchase one of our sensors.
Does the technology generate line noise or EMF?
GPS technology does not generate line noise and does not generate electromagnetic forces. GPS technology is the only ionization technology approved by the FAA for installation on aircraft, since it’s passed the stringent DO-160 certification. This certification proves there is no line noise and no EMF (which can be detrimental to aircraft avionics, if produced).
Will one product properly sized and installed enable me to address both coil cleanliness and assigned space ionization requirements?
Possibly. Ionization does not have a one-size-fits-all solution. Distance from the equipment to space and duct design play major roles in this equation. Contact GPS for more information on your application.
Can you measure how the product is performing?
GPS offers iMEASURE™ and iDETECT™ sensors to measure product performance.
Does NPBI mitigate the need for carbon filters or HEPA filters?
GPS recommends using filters in conjunction with NPBI.
Do air filters need to be changed more frequently when used with NPBI?
Filter change intervals may be increased in some applications based on run time and how the space is utilized. Most applications can maintain their existing filter change schedule.
Does ionization degrade filters, insulation or wire coatings?
No.
Does ionization have an odor to it?
No, ionization is odorless. Some customers have experienced a change in the way the ionized space smells due to the removal of odors they had grown accustomed to.
Carrier Air Filtration Systems
Where in the room should I place my air purifier?
The air purifier features a powerful fan with 360-degree airflow to pull polluted air from multiple directions. Place the unit on a flat surface at least 12 inches away from the wall or other objects including HVAC vents, and close enough to plug into a nearby electrical outlet without using an extension cord.
Is there anywhere in my home I should avoid placing the air purifier?
• Do not use the product near flammable substances or if there is a gas leak.
• Do not use the product in places exposed to high humidity, oil, grease, or water.
• Do not install the product in direct sunlight or near a heating vent.
• Avoid installing the product within 3 feet of TV or electronic appliances.
What is 3-in-1 Filtration?
The air purifier uses a three-stage filter to remove airborne pollutants from indoor air.
STAGE 1: Pre-filter to remove large dust and particles
STAGE 2: High-efficiency filter to remove over 99% of particles sized 0.3 microns (models RMAP-ST, RMAP-XL) or 99.97% of particles sized 0.3 microns (models RMAP-SST, RMAP-SXL)
STAGE 3: Activated carbon filter to remove odors from the air before returning to the room
What size air purifier do I need for my room?
The Air Purifier XL (RMAP-XL) and Smart Air Purifier XL (RMAP-SXL) models filter the air in a 560 sq. ft. room up to ~5 times per hour*
*4.8 times per hour when operated at maximum fan speed. See https://ahamverifide.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/White-Paper-Portable-Air-Cleaners-and-AIr-Changes-per-Hour-FINAL-00106301.pdf
Does the air purifier monitor the air quality in my home?
The air purifier includes a built-in monitor that detects fine particles in the air. A color-coded air quality indicator light on the display communicates your room's indoor air quality as either Good, Moderate, Bad, or Very Bad, based on dust density and particles in the air.
What do the numbers on the display monitor mean?
The display will show the current fan speed when the unit is powered on and running.
EXAMPLE: F5 means it is on the level 5 fan speed, F10 is the level 10 speed, etc.
Eighteen fan speeds are available and can either be manually selected on the control panel or automatically managed through the Smart Auto Mode.
What is Smart Auto Mode operation?
Set it and forget it! Smart Auto Mode allows the air purifier to automatically adjust between 18 fan speeds based on the air quality level in the room – delivering cleaner air more efficiently.
